- Step 1: Soothing Soak
- After each feeding, immerse your nipples in warm, salty water for 3-5 minutes. Prepare a saltwater solution with one teaspoon of salt in warm water. Feel free to make a larger batch for the day. You can also buy premade S too.
- Step 2: Earth Mama's Nipple Butter
- Gently apply Earth Mama's Nipple Butter, a personal favorite with abundant healing ingredients, to nourish and soothe your delicate skin.
- Step 3: Silverette Cups
- Apply Silverette Cups for 20 minutes. Be mindful not to exceed this time, as prolonged use may lead to skin maceration.
- Step 4: Embrace Fresh Air
- Allow your nipples to breathe freely or, if needed, use a breast shell or soothies, a cooling hydrogel breast pad which will feel so soothing to your tender skin and to shield the healing tissue while ensuring adequate air circulation.
- Step 5: Gentle Cleanup
- Before the next feeding, delicately wipe off any excess product from your nipples. Washing your nipples is unnecessary, as all ingredients are safe for you and your baby.
- The Next Feeding: Cleansing Breath and Love Envisioning
- Before latching, breathe out cleansing, envisioning love as your baby latches. Envision this moment as an exchange of love and nourishment. Any discomfort will subside within 30 seconds to 1 minute with a correct latch. You can do it.
- Optional Healing Touch:
- For more traumatized nipples, consider substituting them with medical-grade wound honey, such as MediHoney. This irradiated and safe option is incredibly effective for healing tender skin. Again, wipe an excess product from your nipple before the next feeding; washing is unnecessary.
- Remember, if improvement is not evident within 3 to 5 days, seek care from your lactation consultant, midwife, or obstetrical provider. May this recipe and the loving energy you bring provide the healing and comfort you deserve on your magical breastfeeding journey.
